An initial channel for publication of Foundation content is the SMARTcare™ communications platform which supports the consumer before, during and after the point-of-care. The Foundation delivers easily understandable content about common conditions. One of our goals is to make learning about health, medicine and the health system easier, more interesting, more motivational, and more consumer-friendly.
SMARTcare Scope
The Foundation will initially support content development in five categories: upper respiratory, minor illness, minor injuries, skin conditions and health management education and support.
SMARTcare Channels
The Foundation will develop content for use in multiple channels across the SMARTcare network, including:
• Health plans
• Provider networks
• Physician groups
• Employers
• Convenient Care, Retail and Worksite Clinics
The Foundation currently uses publicly available sources of well-vetted content — CDC, AHA, NIH, ACS, etc. In addition we are researching the protocols and processes used by pharmaceutical manufacturers, the British National Health Service and Consumer Reports as a guiding benchmark for developing our internal protocols.
We are also pursuing accreditation by key industry leading groups. We believe it is fundamental to our credibility as an organization that we be recognized as a world class organization in the consumer health education environment.
